The LIT Search database is a pilot project to create a European database of legal interpreters and translators. The information about legal interpreters and translators in the database was contributed by the consortium partners on the basis of their official registers of legal interpreters and translators.

The LIT Search database was created to support judicial stakeholders and the general public when looking for qualified legal interpreters and translators in specific language combinations.

As legal interpreters and translators are not always available in the requesters own country, LIT Search can offer information about qualified legal interpreters and translators in other countries who can be contacted directly via the indicated e-mail address.

For the time being LIT Search contains data on legal interpreters and translators in several of the countries of the consortium partners (Austria, Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom).
